Gov.bn comes to KB

GOV.BN: More than fifty people were at the GOV.BN roadshow at the Dewan Bandaran of Kuala Belait yesterday afternoon. When VanceTan.com visited the booths yesterday, not many people were present, probably due to the H1N1 scare amongst parents. However, there were still some “nurses” to check for anyone with fever, at the entrance.

Among some of the exhibits included booths from the Prime Minister’s Office, Pelita Brunei, Infofoto, BruCert, as well as a few alike.

It is good that government departments have such exhibitions from district to district as this could increase public awareness about the works of the departments.

According to Saiful, an exhibitor at the E-Registry booth, government employees can start up their own small and medium enterprises as long as they register and notify their office. He added that companies could now register with just a single click at www.eregistry.agc.gov.bn or simply drop by the registration office at 1st Floor, Bangunan Undang-Undang dan Mahkamah-Mahkamah, Kilometer 1, Jalan Tutong, Bandar Seri Begawan, BA1910.

Wash hands, keep flu away: A YouTube video tutorial showing how to clean your hands to keep the deadly virus H1N1 away.

1. Wash your hands with soap and water or clean with alcohol-based hand cleaner.
2. When washing your hands — either with soap and warm water — make sure that you wash for 15 to 20 seconds.
3. If soap and water are not available, alcohol-based disposable hand wipes or gel sanitizers may be used.
4. If you are using gel, rub your hands until the gel is dry. The gel doesn’t need water to work; the alcohol in it kills the germs on your hands.

Liking the revamped look

93 cases already: As of press time, the total number of H1N1 cases is increasing tremendously, now with 93 cases recorded, and one death, a 12-years-old girl.

New look of Brunei Times website: Many websites have been seen undergoing revamption, a term to describe the upgrading of a website to the latest Web 2.0 look, and also the providing of new features such as videos, bookmarks to social websites and Brunei’s latest technology, the e-Paper.

Let’s take a look at BT’s website features: The Article Tool. Viewers and readers can now share the articles via Facebook and Twitter with the new upgraded tool at the Brunei Times Website. An example is the article below, by Adib Noor. Users can also choose to print the article or suggest the aticle through an email to a friend. For people having reading difficulty, the font sizes can be adjusted so there is no need of a magnifying lens anymore.

Congratulations to the three winners of the Brunei Times Essay Writing Competition 2009, organised by the Brunei Times with Radio Television Brunei.
