Fish, a low-fat food known for its wide range of healthy benefits have found its ways into the labs when nutritional supplements made from fish oil are growing more popular as new studies confirm the healthy benefits of omega-3 fatty acids. Yet, several studies have shown that fish oil supplements can contain unsafe levels of environmental pollutants such a dioxins, and heavy such as metal and lead.

Health Authorities has alerted the public, in some countries, regarding the content of fish oil which may be polluted with environmental toxins present in the soil and water, although they do not show significant, immediate effect on a person’s health. Gradually, the intake of dioxins above the safe levels overtime may ignite the risk of having increased risk of cancer, according to a research.
